This totally sweet marble is another from John's 'Dipper' series, in which the bottom third of the marble appears to be 'dipped', producing a totally separate style of marble attached to the main 2/3 of the marble. Fascinating stuff - these Dippers are my very favorite style that John makes.

Here are John's thoughts on this one, from the artist's eye: "I see three trees in an isolated snow grove, apparently asleep, yet when we glance below the surface we see a tangled red root-ball, seething with energy and preparing for the new season of growth. The roots are strange and unsettling, a vague red pattern that casts shadows on the white, making it hard for the eyes to get a solid grasp on. The trees have a ghostly presence that seems to be looking at you, three waiting witnesses." I love it!

Sadly, I don't feel the camera caught the essence of this marble at all. Definitely one that falls into the category of way, WAAAAAY better in hand. You've gotta check it out! I can't believe it hasn't sold yet....
