Conway Castle, Conway, Clwyd, Wales view map

The three crossings of the Afon Conway as viewed from the east barbican of Conway Castle, one of Edward 1st's four big castles built during his conquest of Wales between 1283 and 1287

In the middle is Thomas Telford's suspension bridge of 1826; to the right is Robert Stephenson's double tubular railway bridge of 1846-49; and the most modern crossing is on the left, the single-arch steel bridge of 1958. Out of view is the fourth crossing, the 1991 tunnel which takes the A55 North Wales Expressway under the Conway
