29th - Loose Change

Portmeirion, Gwynedd, Wales view map

We found several of these old tree stumps on our walk yesterday which had had coins hammered into them; actually, the tops of some wooden path marker posts had been similarly treated - does anyone know why or what this signifies? I tried to hoick some out - there was almost enough for a round on this one :o)

With the world economy tanking, did you think about digging up the tree stump and taking off with it?
A most unusual place to find coins!

How odd, I've never seen (or heard) of this before.
Must be a little odd if you are the first to leave a coin, but great if you come last with pliers :0)

I think Phillip is right. Money doesn't grow on trees, but IN them!

Mmm = grafting money onto a tree - someone's trying to grow a money-tree - sure you've not visited before? ;o))

I'm trying to think what this can be! An oversized and misshapen plum pudding someone threw out! Or.... Intriguing shot.
