12th - Dead Tree

near Hailes, Glos. view map

The Glorious Twelfth today, nothing glorious about the weather though, the same heavy skies and warm sultry conditions are making this summer drag.

Did spend an enjoyable few hours wandering the bridleway, byways and paths above and around Winchcombe with a good friend this afternoon when we should have been hard at work LOL!!

We finally got rain after 40 days of 100+ degree weather. Love this.

Its always good to wander and ponder before the real work starts. Its like planning on the move, I normally plan to leave it for another day , and then I wander to the pub.

Good to see this old tree remains standing and seems not to have changed since I snapped it in 2006!

Yep, it's a bleak ol' summer - dead trees are always good for a piccy though :o)

more's the pity it no longer provides shade and shelter...great catch of the curious quadrupeds skipping across the stubble...V

You need to venture out and isolate that one!

It's gotta be better than working .. however maybe you peaked too soon cos the clouds parted later in the evening. No excuses for killing trees ;0)

Nice shot, Doug. I like the strong contrast of the tree over the gray sky. The dead tree and the way it's placed in the scene makes me think of a master painter's work. In other words ... nicely composed. :-)
