"Trot On"

near Norton Lindsey, Warks. view map

A four-and-a-half mile walk with Smokey this afternoon - he's ready for a bit more hard work now as his health returns...having been confined to the stables since early December, he needs to be brought back to fitness gradually - a gentle trot for the time being, canter comes in a week or two, then it's the gallops!! :o)

I'm not sure this composition works - it was a grab shot as the pair of them trotted up the hill, so I didn't have time to get everything lined up properly. I like it for the sunny Spring sky and the beginnings of the crops in the field and as a reminder of a lovely afternoon but the compositional elements are a tad off their marks....what do you discerning viewers think?

I think the composition is excellent. I love the feeling of space and depth. The row of bushes on the left, I think, adds an interesting element to the image. The sky is gorgeous and contributes to the feeling of space. Hope Smokey continues his progress.

I like the minimalism.

Superb, an excellent landscape just as it is. V

Great capture of Smokeys recovery. I think if this was a maybe square crop and you lost some of the right side of the image it would work better, it would bring the line onthe edge of the field about 1/3 of the way into the shot too. All that said, I think this shots about capturing the moment, not mastering the composition.

I'm with David on the hedge / cloud removal, but then I like tight crops. Really nice shot though with these colors contrasts, clarity and perspective.

It works very well, that lone tree in the middle of the frame is great.

evocative and delightful..perhaps tightened up a tad...yes the left hedge and the blue upper right...crop to the puffy cloud and proportionally all around..it's still a great grab though...looks a wonderful walk...V

It works for me, gives a feel of distance and love that tree

I like - captures the mood of Smokey and friend heading off into the distance and those spring colours are great.

I like it, but also think the hedge could go...Good to hear Smokey is feeling better

Works for me :o) If anything, I'd have got rid of the hedge on the left. Get well soon Smokey :o))

I like it but I'd maybe crop it to 3/4 size and lose some of the empty space top right.

Great composition, love the amount of space in this picture
