8th - Remedies

Cheltenham, Glos.

What a day! The bread for my lunchtime sandwiches had managed to go mouldy between buying it on Friday and this morning, so no lunch box for me! Then the torrential rain this morning turned a ten minute commute into a full three-quarter hour drive through hell - why (why!!!) can our drains not cope with this amount of water? Surface water everywhere, side roads reduced to a thin strip of navigable tarmac. And then the numpties' driving - why do motorists panic like it's Doomsday when it rains? What are they afraid of? Sure, drive more carefully, but <15mph on a trunk road??? Ferchrisake...!!

Then back-to-back meetings from 09:30 til 16:30; luckily, I was able to sneak out of one and get something for lunch.....at 15:00. No blinkin' wonder I have a headache...

So now I'm in a dilemma - do I pop a couple and watch a bit of telly, do the washing up and ironing, and then nip out for a loaf of bread? Or try and blot out today with the warm and comforting solace of several tots of 15 year old whisky and retire to bed with a good book?

it would seem it's time for a lark in the Highland Park..or it could be a 'Beam me up Dougie'..at least you'll relax and sleep better..

I do sympathise with you over such a day! I think the whisky in moderation is a great medicine ...... so is a book and an early night. Nice shot!

I agree 100% with Laine! Sorry for this terrible day, but you´re a Nikon man. Be strong! :))

I think the 2nd idea is the best idea!

Easy decision I'd say. And I figure with the time difference b/w me and you, you're snoozing off in la-la-land by now. Sweet dreams.

LOL. A fine composition. As to your dilemma, that is easy - 15 year old and a good book anytime!

LOL at Laine. Good advice but I think I'd go with the hot whisky on a cold night like this.

Looks like you have more fire-water than tablets, so stop whinging and get pouring :o)

Rainy day and Monday got you down?
Live it up and pour yourself a tall one; then call it a night!

Forget the pills, do the Whiskey. Tomorrow will be a better day.

that would be bananas without the apostrophe ( duh!! )

Since Nurofen can cause a stroke and whiskey rot your kidneys, I would suggest go buy a loaf of bread, banana's, milk and honey. Make a banana sandwich, and a banana smoothie ( potassium to help with the headache ) with honey to sweeten, then go to bed with that book and listen to the rain on the roof..you'll be asleep in no time :)

Nice rant that I completely agree with, choose the whiskey, those artificial cures cant be good for you.

Yup, those numpties get around, just wait until it snows!
Carl Carbone08-Nov-2010 19:05
Feel better Doug! We have many "numpties" driving around here too. ;-)

I'm for the Whisky, its more natural. But for God sake don't do both :-)
