west sumatra, indonesia, is also known as minangkabau.
the word minangkabau was derived several centuries ago when the minang people won a bet against the dutch colonial on a water buffalo fight.
minang = win, kabau = water buffalo. that is how their traditional ornaments are always shaped like water buffalo horns (traditional houses, costumes, etc).
enough said, the land of west sumatra itself is such a beautiful land that is very rich in landscape and culture.
