I *hate* that I chopped off the tail on one of them. It's still a nice photo - just not perfect... argh!

That was my one big fear that kept me from buying a prime lens. I was afraid that sometimes the birds would be TOO CLOSE to take a picture! Indeed, some of the pictures I've taken were so close to the subject I'm not sure if the lens hood from a 400mm prime would have cleared the bird. ;)

My Cropped tail was a stupid "not paying enough attention to framing" mistake. It was a full frame shot and I didn't notice until later that the tail was chopped. Still, it was nice enough to keep - at least until I get a nicer one. :)

Thank you for the kind words for my galleries. I liked yours as well. You obviously love birds because it shows in your pictures. :)

I hate cropped off tails as well, but if that is what you've got and the image still has other merits go with it.
