In central North Carolina as well as much of the southeast of the US, 2007 was by far the worst drought year since the 1930's, when there was only a small fraction of the current popultion. In our area there were increasing water restrictions, streams totally dried up for months and shallow lake beds were bare. I shot most of these images over a recent weekend as I waked in boots through a dried up lake bed. For some reason I started adding various trash items from the shoreline on some pics to make drought art. I was planning on shooting more the next weekend but strong rains started and have continued to the point the lakes have refilled to a large extent. We are so thankful to see some water restrictions starting to lift. KEEP raining.
