Golden Silk Spider

Nephila clavipes
Often called Banana spider by the locals, this spider is huge but very docile. It's web is far stickier than most spider webs. Normally covered in pollen, making the entire web look like it is made with Golden Silk. This specimen was photographed from the bridge over Etoniah Creek in the State Forest. Almost the exact same spot as I found the Ebony Jewelwing (who was missing this trip)
