For those not familiar with the Chico area, this is our own little Grand Canyon.
About 200-300 feet high - in this area - the canyon truly is awesome the first
time you see it.
I wish there were a way to capture the feeling it inspires.
Naturally, as you pass it every day, it loses a little of it's wonder.
I've been going past it for two years now and while I still find it beautiful,
it's only certain days, the real clear and bright ones, that I find it amazing.
The place where this is shot from has the sad distinction of being the last
sight many despondant folks see. The cliff from which this shot is taken is
all too often used as a launching point for vehicles piloted by those who feel
they have no options left. As many as 6 or so do it every year. From the base
of the cliff, you can look up and see the wreckage of many cars.
