With each passing year, this once common sight is becoming a rarity on Inle Lake. The prosperity created by tourism has allowed many fishermen to purchase
small diesel engines and supplant the bamboo cones with gill nets. It's ironic that one of the prime draws for tourist is being destroyed by tourism.
