Teun the Egg Farmer, also known as Teun Koekeloer, on the Eiermarkt in Antwerp.
The statue is located in a niche in a building on the Eiermarkt in Antwerp's historic center.
Teun is depicted as a 17th-century farmer, sitting on his egg basket with another basket on
his lap, from which he offers an egg for sale. A clog protrudes from his right trouser pocket.
Teun the Egg Farmer was a mouthpiece for the people in the 17th century, who commented on
important events in the city. The original statue, probably made by sculptor
Peeter Scheemaeckers in 1683, is now located in Het Steen. The statue in the niche is a replica.
