The image shows the Grand Beguinage of Leuven, a historic and well-
preserved district. It is one of the largest surviving beguinages in
Flanders and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.
The district dates back to the 13th century and includes dozens of
houses and convents, built of traditional sandstone. Nowadays, it is a
residential area for students, visiting professors, and staff of KU Leuven.
The Dyle River flows through the beguinage, over which three bridges are located.
