The statue is a bust of Saint Charles Borromeo, an Italian archbishop
and cardinal. The bust is made of plaster and dates from 1896-1907.
It depicts Saint Charles Borromeo in his clerical attire and wearing a beret.
He was Archbishop of Milan from 1564 to 1584. The sculpture was created by
a Lombard sculptor, possibly Paolo Manusardi.
