Recreated cell or dormitory in the Theresienstadt (Terezín) concentration camp.
Theresienstadt was a fortified town in the Czech Republic that was used by the
Nazis as a ghetto and transit camp for Jews from all over Europe during World War II.
It mainly served as a stopover before prisoners were deported to death camps such
as Auschwitz-Birkenau. Conditions in the camp were poor, with overcrowding and a
high mortality rate, although the Nazis sometimes used it for propaganda to mislead
the outside world about the 'good' treatment of Jews.
