The image shows a memorial plaque for Václav Budovec z Budova. Václav Budovec z Budova
(Wenzel Wilhelm Freiherr Budowecz von Budowa) was a Bohemian reformer, diplomat and writer.
He was born in 1551 and died on June 21, 1621 in Prague. The plaque commemorates him as one of
the 27 Bohemian nobles executed on June 21, 1621 in Prague's Old Town Square.
The execution took place after the Battle of White Mountain, in retaliation for their
participation in the Bohemian Uprising against the Habsburg Monarchy.
