This is an interior photograph of the St. Charles Borromeo Church in Antwerp,
a remarkable example of Baroque architecture. The church is known as the "Rubens Church" because
of the painter's significant contribution to the decoration of the facade and the crowning of
the tower. The building was designed by the Jesuit Fathers Fr. d'Aguilon and P. Huyssens and
built between 1615 and 1621. It is the first Baroque complex built around a square in Europe
outside Italy.
