This building is the Antwerp Stock Exchange. It is known as the world's first purpose-built
commodity and stock exchange, originally opened in 1531. Its flamboyant Gothic design served
as a model for the Royal Exchange in London and other European stock exchanges.
The current building is a neo-Gothic reconstruction dating from 1877, after a fire.
Today, the restored building serves as an events venue.
