Kremer K-4

The Kremer K-4 was the 4th generation of Kremer 935’s. Still based (Very Loosely) on the production 930 it still needed to comply with a few basic rules. Essentially a space frame chassis the engine had to remain behind the rear axle line, suspension, doors and windows still had to remain in the stock location. Upside-down gearbox, super low ride height 18” wheels and 750 to 800 BHP from the more than potent Porsche flat six. Even though the Lola was a pure prototype along with a few March chassis and a couple of specials thrown in, the 935 have still managed several podium finishes and a few wins.

The Kremer K4 interscope atempted only one IMSA race and was retired from practice due to overheating issues. And the Fitz K4 redeveloped the intercooler system from their JoestMoby copy

Hello Mark2nite,

do you have pictures of the K4 end ? Not having finished my K3 project I'm already looking for parts of the "final Kremer incarnation" K4, my next project. Would you sell, do you have any other K4 bodyparts, or does someone who's reading my comment have ?

excellent picts. I have a K 4 tail from a Fitzpatrick car sitting around. It is so huge I've abandoned hopes of fitting it to my K2 style club car.

Reviewing the above... The sentence: "...both the K4 and the Joest built replicas, J.R.001 and 002 were the same cars," SHOULD read: "...both the K4 and the Joest built replicas, J.R. 001 and 002 were very similar cars,"

It's interesting that, essentially, both the K4 and the Joest built "Moby Dick" replics, J.R. 001 and 002, were the same cars, though with some detail differences and the Joest cars did very well, in an era when the Group C/GTP cars were arriving on the scene. Apparently, Danny Ongais of the Interscope team could not get within a second of his K3 in Road Atlanta practice and so the team's K4 was banished to the trailer/back of the shop and did not re-appear in period! Whereas...John Fitzpatrick's K4 went through some strenuous development and did win IMSA races. (Primarily, this involved moving the air intakes to the air to air intercooler, so that it worked!)
I guess what this means to say is that, given development, the Interscope K4 could have been a success too but, at that time, the team ws running 935K3s and Lola T600s, so were somewhat spoilt for choice. Also, their engineers were probably somewhat overloaded. I suspect that, if someone got hold of one of these four cars now, could sort it, set it up and could drive, it would probably walk away from any other 935 around.
