I agree !!! Having lived in Soest for 10 years (1957-1970)on three posting's with the Canadian Forces (NATO) and enjoyed every minute. My wife Helga from Hamm and I still have friends in Soest and surrounding area. Not once did we hear any criticism when the soldiers would drink too much and act poorly .. when we pulled out in 1970 all was forgiven, and we parted as friends.Glad to hear the Soester's have not changed. Super folks!

I am presently living here now in Soest, I love this place since i came here and gave birth at Klinikum Soest last year. The people who are working there was so friendly and ilove much their foods. Our wohnung which is near and very accessible to any establishment whenever i wish to go in short its only walking distance and no need to spend gasoline just to be there e.g. Aldi, Rewe, Aphoteke, Ihr platz, gas station, deutsche post, pizzeria, berlet, imbiss, medicine and kinder doctors, hair salon, lotto, pet foods, cakes factory, bus going to bahnhof, and the most favorite place i love to visit is the Sozialkaufhaus were you can buy cheap pre-owned things and some stuff from .25 euro up. Well what can i ask for? People living in my area are so friendly and they will greet you from time to time when you see them outside. But one thing i notice from them they are so shy to speak in English, so being a newcomer in this area I decided to go in a German School this coming summer to learn more of their language, yes it was hard yet so nice to learn right?
