This was my first view of Odawara castle and still the most lasting in my mind. I sat here quite a while thinking about how much had happened in the courtyard I sat in. The original site was built about 800 years ago with its current look emerging around 500 years ago. The castle had been under attacks, seen 5 generations of the same family, and had been under a number of sieges. In the museum inside there were pictures of all of the other famous Japanese castles and I have to say that this was among the best. The only picture I saw that impressed me more than Odawara Castle was that of Osaka Castle. It might be a while before I get the chance to travel there though.
