2300-1.jpg

Hard to pick a first shot to post from Death Valley, but thought this one might be a good place to start. The terrain at Devil's Golf Course is beyond comprehension to what most of humanity recognize as "ground." Salt crystalizes and builds up in twisted, tormented shapes that are far stronger than they appear. In fact, visitors are warned that falling could result in horrible cuts and even broken bones. I can vouch for the forbidding footing, but thankfully hiked unscathed into (and out of) this fascinating area. Regardless, it is a place that captivates the imagination in its beautiful and haunting strangeness. More to come.
