Thank you, Phil ... this abandoned mansion is my favorite site to and from church. I'm absolutely mesmerized by it. My dear husband slammed on the brakes when I yelled "stop!" when I saw the buzzard atop the chimney on our way home from church yesterday. He's very indulgent. LOL
As for the image ... the feeling of desolation was what I was going for - that and mystery, decay and tension. Amazingly, I didn't have to desaturate the image at all as it was a beautifully gray day that magnified the grayness of the ruined (though still beautiful) home.
An eerie bird on an equally eerie structure, framed in jagged bare trees that are also eerie. You drain it of life by desaturating it, and present the work of both man and nature in state of desolation.
