This morning the first flight of Sandhill Cranes arrived on the Northern Wind to be with us until Spring. The first batch numbers an odd one over 60. While the morning was bright on the east side and dark on the West side of the Observation pond....the photos taken were more for documentation than style since the ISO had to be run up a bit. As the next few days and weeks creep into the scene more and more Sandhills will arrive and hopefully the Refuge will exceed 8000 this Season.

Along with the Sandhills, we observed nine deer with one of them being a small racked buck. Migratory ducks, Geese, Grebs, Whilte Pelicans, and a Northern Harrier. All the game were almost at the effective limits of the lense due to the really fine mist rising as the morning sun hit the surfaces. BUt, now there will be more opportunities for the visitors to take photos of real wildlife and not the wild life that is partially domesticated along many urban areas of our Nation.
