A new fiscal year and a full load of activities at and near the Refuge. First off, a beautiful day for bicycling along the trails and service roads for groups and individuals; then the opening day for hunting squirrels for hunters and their family. As for wildlife a crisp Fall day with bright sun is always a treat for the last of the blooming wildflowers and insects. The there are the wetland birds as they gather within the wetland areas. Nearby in the City of Madison, that community is having a Fall festival where our Volunteers man a information booth about the services and natural attractions for the next 8 months of Fall, Winter, and early Spring. All in all a very busy day for those willing to explore the Refuge or learn the beauty within it.

Incidently, Next Saturday is open house for the Refuge....so....come to the Refuge's Visitor Center and enjoy the activites planned to entertain, educate our youth, and feed your interests.
