This day was spent walking-about the fields and service roads seeing the transformation of crops from our drought, insects preparing for cold weather, the white pelicans beginning to arrive, and the last of the Summer flowers. A good crisp morning with heavy shadows at the observation pond. Soon the Refuge will start the 7-Day season when the Visitors Center is open during the migratory period for water fowl and the various Cranes. This period of our history is sort of like the final finish work in building a house....seem to never end but once finished the enjoyment of a new home overshadows this brief period as our Seasons blend from one to the next.
