Almost another fiscal year behind the USFWS at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. One week to go and the plant life is still blooming, the song birds still hiding in the undergrowth, and the reptiles are just not ready to burrow into the creek bottoms. This week has been ground fog slightly crisp morning in the mid-40s F. with the days being in the high 70s to mide 80s. A perfect condition for doing a walk-about observing the smaller gifts from our Creator. From the large Great Egret to the smallest flower.....a thankful time to be in an area of the "Blue Marble" where wildlife is in abundance and the creature comforts of mankind are so close to this refuge for all wildlife. It is a peaceful time here as the Summer Season begins to blend with the Fall Season and our migratory populations begin to arrive in larger numbers each day. Walk-abouts are a way to thank God for what we have been blessed with in Alabama and that feeling of feeling a slight chill that means you are alive and not the alternative.
