WNWR is not only a seasonal refuge for various migratory wildlife, plants, insects, etc. ; it isss also a working biologist program for student volunteers as well as a means to track certain speciies of migratory wildlife. Today and to sometime in September the population of Wood Ducks that have not been bande with an I.D. tag will be captured, recorded, tagged, and released. These photos are just a sampling of the manhour effort put into this program at the Refuge to better understand how to protect (and yes, when harvested by a hunter) and better prepare future populations of Wood Ducks for all people to enjoy viewing or as a food source.
