Since the migrating wildlife have left and the Summer winged newcomers are tending to the nesting work, the day's gallery is more devoted to the "wild" flowers within the Refuge. Over the last two hundred years this area has had many homestead sites and the birds have deposited seeds during their releasing excess ballast prior to flying. In many cases the old homesteads can be located by the abundance of a particular flower species marking an old flower bed for the Lady of the Cabin.
