The new nine immature Whooping Cranes are still in the area along with a hundred or so Sandhill Cranes. While there are a several hundred duck types in the Refuge a goodly number of migratory birds are packing their napsacks and heading back to their Summer ranges. So with that annual change it is quickly time to photograph the Sparing flowers, insects, and the "Song" birds living within the area. A quiet walk along the service roads or woodland paths proved somewhat successful to document the early arrivals. When it come to flowers and plants it is always a surprise to see what the birds and animals have deposited in the wooded and field areas.

Weather conditions are mixed each day from sun to cloudy to rainfall, but well worth the effort if you prepare properly for yourself and your camera gear.
