This date at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge the Festival of Cranes was held at the Visitor Center for the fourth year. This gallery contains the Whooping Cranes and Sandhill Cranes which make their Winter home at the Refuge. The activities began on site with an early morning breakfast for the general public and then for the next two days the public had opportunities to observe, be close to, and learn about the importance of wildlife protection and services geared for both mankind and wildlife. The first part of this gallery is a sampling of the wildlife at the observation building on the Visitor Center grounds. The sub-gallery contains more details on the seminars, indoors activities for young and old as well as a glimpse of the overall public interests in the existence of the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge in North Alabama.
