Today it was bitterly cold with the drought keeping the refuge's wetlands not so wet. BUT, the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge Association held a tour of a closed segment of the Refuge. About 24 citizens loaded on a wide windowed bus and traveled through the area observing numerous water fowl, cranes, hawks, and Sandhill Cranes. Starting in January the Association will begin a year long series of events celebrating WNWR's 75th Anniversary. The following snapshots give a brief glimpse of the tour and some of what wildlife was observed.
