An American Alligator enjoying the Spring Sun in one of the backwater marshes of the Refuge. After measuring the right trunk of the tree behind this fellow (right at 15") and segmenting a print of this photos, it is estimated that the current length of the alligator is between 11 1/2 to 12 feet. If the reptiles tail was complete it would surely be close to 14 feet in total length from tail tip to snout tip.
