This photo taken in the late 1860s is of my Mother's grandmother (Addie) and grandfather. Soon after having her two girl babies, Addie died of, what was then called, consumption, leaving Grandpapa to find another wife to correctly bring up the little girls as young ladies. He married a country woman who had a son and they lived with an understanding up until he died at an very old age. He was of german ancestry operating a beer garden before the County went dry after the passage of the Prohibition Laws.
