A growing trend is the construction of Winter wet pools for waterfowl lease hunting. In this case the "ponding pool" is within a foot of the marked bountry trees (marked with yellow stripes) with no appearent provisions for controling water run-off or erioson run-off from entering the Refuge's area. This "pool" area covers the total U shape of two bends in the boundry which most likely was set so the original landowner could have the good farm land rather than conversion back to forest.
The one thing this person constructing the "pool" is that only three sides of it can be used for hunting and any waterfowl landing within the Refuge is Off-Limits to the Hunters using the pool. If caught with firearms within the Refuge....it will be really expensive for that person when enforcement catches them.
A more resonable location using the existing terrain sloping would be to build a smaller one in the middle of the field area rather than abutted against the property line. The next two photos document the size and waste of money in trying to lure Refuge wildlife to travel less than 20 feet to be shot.
