From this photograph, taken standing on the service road, one can see just how close these "pay-to-hunt" clients are located to the Refuge boundary. {Note: the shooting stands are located so that the non-wild and indigenous pheasants [and grouse] will fly to the nearest cover (the Refuge's treeline) and then be left in that area to mend or expire or become any easy meal for local predators.}
Looking at the large tracts of land operated by this business....it is poorly designed due to it being mainly open land in the Fall and unlike some shooting lands in Mississippi and Arkansas no wooded plots were left standing (or developed) in the middle of these open fields so a 360 degree field of fire could be set-up for hunting these domestic birds during such business operations that allow "city folk" to feel as if they are actually avreal huntsman.
A truly non-conservation operation for personal vanitites and profits since on this particular day, there were 300 domestic birds released for the entertainment of a Corporation's visitors to experience upland bird hunting (?) without the necessity of walking an actual field containing wild birds. Draw your own conclusions as to the Sportsmanship of such a capital venture.
