Caterpillar or Mullti leg Crawlers

Over the weekend several thousand of these little inch and a half ground crawlers cover the carport and back landing at BeauxPoint. While the little "bugs" were harmless they crawled out of the woods seeking trees and the walls of the house and garage. Now the question is....what will these little fellas grow into and what is their normal identification name???? Any suggestions?
