Thomas Condon was the minister who discovered the fossils fields at John Day back in 1865. He made many visits and soon developed a passion for paleontology.
Condon believed science was the means to understand the spectacular nature of God's creation. "The Hills from which these evidences were taken were made by the same God who made the hills of Judea, and the evidences are as authoritative. The Church has nothing to fear from the uncovering of truth."
