Blythe Intaglios

15 miles from Blythe on U.S. 95

This geoglyph depicts a human figure and measures 105.6' head to toe.
In 1931 pilot George Palmer discovered these huge figures drawn out on the desert floor along the Colorado River near Blythe. They were made by scratching the surface of the desert floor. The dark surface of the desert is called "desert pavement."
It is not known who did the drawings or their age since the technology to date them does not exist. They could be 1000 years old or only 200 years old.
The Mohave who have lived in the area for many years have no knowledge of the figures.
