From the 1915 Edition of the Silver City ENTERPRISE: "The voters of Pinos Altos this week at a special election to make the mining town dry, voted wet by 68 votes to 42 votes. It was an exciting election. Pinos Altos, since its founding has operated saloons and any effort to outlaw them would be most remarkable. The vote will keep the historic Buckhorn Bar operating as it has for the past 50 years."
