I was part of a Block Grant renovation team for conversion of the upper hotel portion into studio apartments. It was left in extremely well preserved condition with top-opening transom windows over each door, the hotel switchboard intact, and claw-foot tubs in the rooms. As a Tucson history buff, I needed to know what the building's history had been, and did research on the ground floor uses. I found out it had been a Studebaker automobile showroom (cars displayed in the large windows)when it was constructed. I even found the ads for the showroom and cars.
