Jules le Flein House

historic El Presidio at 311 N. Court

Home to El Charro, the oldest continuously family-owned Mexican restaurant in the nation and Tucson's first Mexican restaurant. This original restaurant is located in the home of Jules le Flein, the stonemason brought here from France in 1883 to carve the stone portal for St. Augustine Cathedral. The house was built by Flein in 1900. Rocks from A Mountain were used in part of its exterior.

Jules le Flein was also the stone mason on the Academy Lofts at 15th St and 6th Avenue. It was originally St Joseph's Academy, built in 1886, then became Immaculate Heart in the 30's.
