Rufus (Grey Kitty) was one of the last animals to be removed from the home of an animal hoarder.
He was too sick to go to the animal rescue, and was taken to the veterinarian, where he has
remained since the beginning of December 2012. Rufus suffered from a bacterial skin infection
that covered his hind quarters, starvation/malnutrition, internal parasites, and severe diarrhea.
His tail was a matted dreadlock, filled with pink housing insulation, feces, and filth. By the
time Rufus was taken to the vet, he had long stopped taking care of himself because he was so
very, very ill. The veterinarian and all his staff were utterly shocked at the condition of poor Rufus.
Rufus is a different kitty now! He is a gorgeous, loving, really neat guy! Rufus shows his
happiness by "making biscuits". He kneads his VERY large white paws everywhere he can - his
blankets, his people, and even in the air!
While at the vet's office, Rufus has become such a comfort to another kitty named Tony who is dying!
This handsome boy is pure love and has been grooming and taking care of little Tony, who is not
growing properly and the vets are not sure why.
The above photo is of our beloved Rufus, snuggling with Little Tony on the beanbag chair at the
vet's office. Dr. Hover reported that Little Tony has gained 3/4 of a pound since his friendship
with Rufus began. Because of the profound healing that has occurred, Dr Hover is now wanting the
two kitties to be adopted out together. Rufus is one amazing cat!
