The Karl-Marx-Hof is one of Vienna's most famous municipal housing complexes and is located in the 19th district, Döbling. Opened in 1930, it is the longest continuous residential building in the world, measuring approximately 1050 meters in length. The complex is named after the philosopher, economist, and critic of capitalism, Karl Marx. The building is considered an icon of "Red Vienna." It is a listed building and is also designated as a protected architectural zone by the City of Vienna.

Built between 1927 and 1933 by Otto Wagner's student and city architect Karl Ehn on inexpensive land along the Franz Josef Railway and officially opened on October 12, 1930, the building comprised 1382 apartments for around 5000 residents.

Der Karl-Marx-Hof ist einer der bekanntesten Gemeindebauten Wiens und liegt im 19. Wiener Gemeindebezirk, Döbling. Er wurde 1930 eröffnet und ist mit ungefähr 1050 Metern Länge der längste zusammenhängende Wohnbau der Welt. Benannt wurde der Gemeindebau nach dem Philosophen, Ökonomen und Kapitalismuskritiker Karl Marx. Das Gebäude gilt als Ikone des „Roten Wien“. Es steht unter Denkmalschutz und ist auch von der Stadt Wien als bauliche Schutzzone ausgewiesen.

Von 1927 bis 1933 vom Otto-Wagner-Schüler und Stadtbaumeister Karl Ehn auf preisgünstigem Land entlang der Franz-Josefs-Bahn errichtet und am 12. Oktober 1930 offiziell eröffnet, umfasste der Bau 1382 Wohnungen für rund 5000 Bewohner.
