Vienna’s Schwarzspanierhaus enjoys a dark entry in the encyclopaedia of music history. This is the former location of the home of Ludwig van Beethoven, where he passed away in 1827.

Beethoven-Sterbehaus (Schwarzspanierhaus), 9., Schwarzspanierstraße 15.

In dem Haus, das bis 1903/1904 an dieser Stelle stand (Abbruchgenehmigung von 12. Mai 1903), starb Ludwig van Beethoven am 26. März 1827 (Gedenktafel). Am 29. März wurde in der Alser Kirche die Totenfeier gehalten.
