It is historically proven that in 1203 there was a chapel called Wolfkersdorf where Hochwolkersdorf now stands.
According to legend, the chapel was converted into a fortress with a rampart and moat around 1329.

The old fortified church suffered particularly during the Reformation, and after many renovations, the church began to be enlarged in 1862.
