The Geymüllerschlössel in Vienna's Pötzleinsdorf district is a jewel from the Biedermeier period and boasts a varied history. Built in 1808 as a summer residence by the Viennese banker Johann Jakob Geymüller (1760–1834), it subsequently experienced a social heyday under the industrialist Isidor Mautner (1852–1930) and his wife Jenny (1856–1938), with lavish parties and magnificent musical and theatrical performances. Almost threatened with demolition, the passionate clock and Biedermeier furniture collector Franz Sobek (1903–1975) subsequently saved the palace from decay before it was taken over by the Republic of Austria.
