This kanji symbol means "ice" and is very important in the hot summer in Japan.
It indicates the shop is selling shaved ice, here called kakigori.

an appealing and dynamic symbol, verging on ironic to picture ice with the colour of fire..it seems to dance, and the tilt accentuates that impression..
