Runes

These old manual focus lenses have some strange markings on them.
Their meaning is lost in the depths of history...

Sony α7R
8s f/1.0 iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Beautiful OM lens - the black lines show the DOF for that particular aperture (V)

This is real quality, just picked up the 21mm OM 3.5. The tactical feel is so nice. Best part they work a real treat on the Sony. V

I agree with Jean-Rene. I sure miss the ability to use hyperfocal focusing to increase DoF at a lower f stop. I have a file cabinet full of old Nikon fixed focus (prime) lenses. Vote.

I regret these old signs on the new autofocus lenses !
The small red feature was for the infra-red films ...
The black aperture scale indicated the depth of field and especially the hyperfocal one! That was lost!
Dommage !
It seems me to recognize a Canon FD 50mm f 1.8 .

Yes you are right...does require a mental shift to re think the markings and the meanings.V

That looks like the Olympus lens from my old OM10.
And I used to know what the markings mean.

I have one of those :-) Actually I've just been thinking about buying a film and loading it into my OM-2n, Might be tricky :-)

But they were easier to understand showing DOF
